Business Builder Basics - Course 5 - Somerset, Kentucky

April 16, 2019: Averting a Cash Crisis: Learn the importance of weekly cash budget planning and forecasting. Learn how to negotiate with vendors and lenders. Explore issues regarding taxes and workforce classifications such as 1099 and W2. (1 hr 30 min course)

Review HDO business practices and expectations for vendors, electronic tools to use, benefits of working with HDOs, energy efficient building standards, meeting and exceeding mode (how to read code manuals). Also, seasoned construction staff will discuss effective E2 techniques, RESNet, Energy Star and minimum certifications for some trades. Finally, the group will explore the essential aspects of bidding and working on government contracts. (3 hr 30 min course).

ABOUT THE COURSES:

Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation with support from the U.S. Small Business Administration is presenting a curriculum of 9 classes to help entrepreneurs launch or expand their business. Two tracks are offered: General Business and Construction Industry.

General Business: Students will learn focus on technology and skills that will benefit any business owner or entrepreneur trying to launch their business. Topics will include ZOOM Videoconference, Financial Statements, Microsoft Excel, Time Management, and Brand Development.

Construction Industry: Students will learn how to help their existing construction businesses become more efficient, profitable, and sustainable. It will also help experienced construction trade workers launch their own business.

Students will also get FREE books and information to take home.
